Martial Arts

The roots of martial arts are almost impossible to define. If we take martial arts to mean fighting arts, then it is likely that it has been around as long as man.

As the roots of martial arts are difficult to trace, we move onto more recent history of martial arts, and martial arts became an important part of war and was used to kill or seriously injure an enemy, using your own body or any item that could be used as a weapon.

As times have progressed martial arts have become more and more specialised in their own right. For instance Judo is more specialised in grappling and throwing, taekwondo is more kick based.

Wado Ryu Karate has a strong base in Ju Jitsu and uses this along with punches and kicks to become a comprehensive art. No one martial art is better than another in my opinion, the just have their own specialties. Although there is no bad martial arts there is plenty of bad martial artists, instructors and clubs around. It is important to chose a club which has god credentials. There is 5 things you should expect of a martial arts club:

1.A black belt instructor with a traceable black belt certificate/license

2.A current qualification in teaching martial arts (covering health and safety, child        protection and first aid amongst other things)

3.An enhanced CRB check (should not be more than 2years old)

4.A clear pricing structure

5.Instructors Indemnity Insurance
