The safety and wellbeing of every child is central to everything we do at St Martins Junior Karate Club.
Our safeguarding commitment
St Martins Junior Karate Club safeguarding arrangements are in place to help keep children, young people and adults safe within the club.
Meet the safeguarding team
Our safeguarding leads are available to listen, support and respond appropriately if a child, parent, carer or club member has a concern.
Paul Turner
Designated Safeguarding Lead. Paul has overall responsibility for safeguarding within the club and for ensuring concerns are handled appropriately.
Chris Haggan
Deputy Safeguarding Lead. Chris supports the club’s safeguarding work and can be contacted if Paul is unavailable or if a concern relates to Paul.
How to raise a concern
Speak to Paul or Chris in person, or email safeguarding@stmartinsjuniorkarateclub.co.uk. Concerns will be treated seriously and shared only when necessary.
When a concern is raised
We will listen carefully, record the concern accurately and take appropriate action. Information will only be shared with those who need to know in order to protect the child or respond properly.
Concerns are handled sensitively, fairly and in line with the club’s safeguarding procedures.
Further safeguarding support
Most concerns can be raised directly with our safeguarding team. However, there may be circumstances where another reporting route is more appropriate.
Concerns involving a safeguarding lead
If a concern relates to Paul Turner, contact Chris Haggan. If it relates to Chris Haggan, contact Paul Turner. If it relates to both safeguarding leads, the concern should be raised with CMAA or the appropriate statutory safeguarding service.
Immediate danger or emergency
If a child or adult is in immediate danger, call 999. Safeguarding concerns may also be reported directly to the police, children’s social care or another appropriate statutory service.
